Paul & Shark and the results achieved through the collaboration with Vellmarí

On occasion of “World Oceans Day” and the launch of “Juvia by Paul & Shark” in Formentera in 2024, Paul & Shark enthusiastically joined the “Protecting Posidonia” project. Now that some time has passed, we are ready to take stock of the progress and tangible results achieved thanks to our collaboration with Vellmarí, the association founded by Manu San Félix, National Geographic photographer and pioneer in the protection of marine ecosystems.

Posidonia oceanica meadows, one of the Mediterranean's most valuable and vulnerable marine ecosystems, are at the heart of this initiative. Known as the "Green Lungs of the Mediterranean," these meadows are essential for oxygenating the sea, protecting the coastlines, promoting biodiversity, and purifying the waters. However, they are threatened by factors such as climate change, pollution, and coastal infrastructure. Thanks to Paul & Shark's participation, significant steps have been taken in restoring these meadows in Formentera, with the planting of 700 specimens in the Salinas Natural Park, one of the most vulnerable areas.The results achieved so far are concrete and measurable: 600m² of seabed have been restored and over 180 people have actively participated in awareness and planting initiatives.

The project has had a positive impact on marine biodiversity, contributing to the restoration of a vital part of the ecosystem. Paul & Shark, together with Vellmarí, has demonstrated that true change comes from the collaboration between brands, communities, and institutions. Paul & Shark and Vellmarí's commitment continues, with the goal of preserving the Mediterranean marine ecosystem, constantly monitoring the growth of the plants and ensuring that the actions taken are lasting and effective.
