1. Accessibility requirements and applicable criteria

The requirements for digital accessibility are specified in Legislative Decree of 27 May 2022, No. 82 “Implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the accessibility requirements for products and services,” which refers to the technical standard UNI EN 301549.

Specifically, the conformity of the website must be assessed against the criteria listed in chapters 9 “Web” and 10 “Non-web content,” referencing the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level A+AA. The four fundamental principles of digital accessibility, expressed in WCAG 2.1, are:

Perceivable – Content is presented clearly and in an understandable way.

Operable – The interface is easily navigable by all users.

Understandable – Information and operations are intuitive and easy to interpret.

Robust – The site is compatible with the most common assistive technologies.

Based on the aforementioned UNI EN 301549 standard, which clearly lists 50 success criteria to consider when verifying the accessibility of a website, technical analyses were carried out regarding the website content, including textual and non-textual information, downloadable documents and forms, and bi-directional interaction such as digital form processing and the completion of authentication, identification, and payment processes.

Excluded areas

Article 1 paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree No. 82/2022 states that the provisions of the decree do not apply to the following website content and mobile applications:

  • Time-based media that was pre-recorded and published before 28 June 2025;
  • Office file formats published before 28 June 2025;
  • Maps and online mapping services, provided that essential navigation information is supplied in an accessible digital format;
  • Third-party content not financed, developed, or controlled by the economic operator concerned;
  • Website content and mobile applications considered archives, meaning that they contain only content that has not been updated or modified after 28 June 2025.

2. General description of the service

This website is intended for end consumers and offers a sales service for the Paul&Shark brand, allowing users to discover, select, and purchase the company’s clothing products. Users can browse the site using filters, add items to their cart or wishlist, register to access their personal area, and manage orders, returns, and personal details. In addition to providing the complete purchasing flow, the website also allows users to learn more about the brand, locate the nearest store, subscribe to the newsletter, consult customer service, and contact the company.

3. How the service works

The site can be used from desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones through major web browsers currently available, and it is offered in several languages. Website navigation is designed to be intuitive and consistent, with a main menu enabling direct access to the most relevant sections. Below is further detail on how the site’s main services work:

4. Meeting accessibility requirements

Dama S.P.A. has implemented solutions to make its website accessible and compatible with assistive technologies, aiming to improve usability for all users. Following technical assessments, a technical report was produced indicating which corrections and improvements were necessary to meet compliance criteria.

Accessibility features implemented and available to users include, but are not limited to:

Compatibility with assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS)

  • Keyboard navigation
  • Adequate colour contrast
  • Text alternatives for graphic and multimedia content
  • Text zoom and resizing
  • Subtitles for multimedia content and text transcripts
  • Animation control and reduction of non-essential motion
  • Forms and input fields with clear labels for easier interaction

Web content accessibility for users employing assistive technologies—such as screen readers, alternative keyboards, or voice commands—is further supported by ARIA attributes, which describe the role, state, and properties of interface elements, communicate dynamic interactions (e.g., expandable menus, modals, sliders) to screen readers, and support keyboard navigation on complex components. To further improve accessibility and user experience, the website integrates a widget (UserWay PRO). Its use is completely free for website users and helps enhance site compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

UserWay PRO provides multiple features for improving website accessibility and user experience through a panel accessible by clicking the widget icon or using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+U, including:

Screen reader: Reads aloud all page content without needing external software.

Dictionary: Provides access to dictionary lookup without leaving the site; useful for people with cognitive disabilities and non-native English speakers.

Larger text: Allows users to increase text size with four levels of enlargement.

Saturation: Adjusts colour intensity to high, low, or grayscale.

Contrast: Inverts site colours or switches between light and dark contrast modes.

Smart contrast: Ensures full ADA-compliant colour ratios for improved content visibility.

Highlight links: Highlights links, buttons, and interactive elements with high-contrast colours.

Stop animations: Pauses moving or auto-updating content that may hinder accessibility and may trigger epileptic episodes.

Text spacing: Adjusts text and line spacing with three levels for improved readability.

Line height: Increases line height for more comfortable reading.

Text alignment: Aligns text left, right, or centre for a personalized reading experience.

Dyslexia-friendly font: The “UserWay Dyslexia Friendly” font enhances readability for users with dyslexia.

Large cursor: Enlarges the standard cursor by 400% for enhanced visibility.

Tooltips: Displays alt text and ARIA labels when hovering.

Page structure: Quickly reveals headings, landmarks, and links in a structured, accessible manner.

In addition to user-activated features, the UserWay PRO widget can detect many non-compliance issues and apply real-time corrections without modifying the source code—only what the browser renders. This further enhances usability for all users, including those using assistive technologies.

Compliance status

To determine the website’s compliance status, the guidelines and evaluation checklist prepared by AgID were used. The technical assessment, carried out by an accessibility expert, expressed the following status as of the date of drafting or updating this statement. This website is partially compliant with the requirements of Appendix A of the UNI CEI EN 301549 standard due to the non-compliance issues listed below:

  • Web pages do not fully meet the requirements of chapter 9 “Web” of UNI CEI EN 301549
  • PDF files downloadable from the site do not meet the requirements of chapter 10 “Non-web documents”

Specifically:

  • Some content is not accessible via keyboard;
  • In some sections, keyboard navigation order is not consistent with content meaning;
  • Some links do not clearly and correctly communicate their purpose;
  • Some keyboard-operable features are not predictable or do not provide feedback;
  • Some content or elements do not provide feedback to user actions;
  • Some content lacks unique attributes, making interaction difficult for blind users or users with reduced mobility who rely on assistive technologies.

This accessibility statement considers non-compliance issues corrected by the UserWay PRO widget as resolved, since its modifications satisfy the success criteria established by current regulations.

5. Accessibility monitoring process

Dama S.P.A. has paid particular attention to the service provision process to ensure it meets the requirements defined by digital accessibility regulations, also relying on external consultants for the following activities:

  • Technical accessibility audit of the website through a gap analysis;
  • User testing of main user flows, including with assistive technologies;
  • Analysis of third-party technologies, plugins, and services used on the site;
  • Reporting of gaps and non-compliance found during testing;
  • Correction of non-compliance through code updates and UserWay technologies;
  • Validation of the implemented corrections;
  • Drafting of accessibility documentation available to the public;
  • Definition of internal policies and management procedures for assistance requests submitted by users.

Dama S.P.A. intends to evaluate performing periodic technical checks to monitor website accessibility over time, possibly with the contribution of third-party specialists in digital accessibility, to implement improvements also based on user suggestions. Technical checks are carried out by an external accessibility consultant using updated tools in accordance with current regulations, performing assessments through semi-automated code checks, manual user tests, and assistive technology usage.
